From Lakka we sailed across to the mainland and anchored in Two Rock Bay (love the imaginative names the Greeks give bays - very descriptive!)
The main rocks that give the bay its name - but there were plenty more on that side.
Anchor down and Dave kindly "volunteers" to swim out and check it is in securely and not on a rock, in weed or just not laying correctly.
Thumbs up - all is good - he can relax and have a beer now!
Dave dived down and found this shell on the seabed - isn't nature amazing to create something like this?!
We rowed ashore to go exploring around the deserted beach.
A set up steps took us up the cliff face to look back down on "Alan MkIII" sitting alone on the sand.
A short walk through the edge of a forest and we came to this view, sadly no time for a longer walk - maybe another time.
From there we continued to Preveza to meet Harry.
From Preveza we went south - this is going through the lifting bridge that connects the island of Lefkada with the mainland. It opens once an hour on the hour to allow boats through but they don't like holding the traffic up for very long so the trip needs to be carefully timed!
Our first stop was in Sivota on the south coast of Lefkada. From there we crossed over to the island of Ithaca and went into the beautiful port of Kioni.
In the far distance here you can just see the three derelict windmills on the headland that make a good landmark when approaching from the sea. This picture was taken on our walk around the bay to meet two friends of Harry's who are spending their summer hosting at the villa seen amongst the trees in the picture below.
Now a better view of the windmills beyond the villa where they are working.
Harry with Sam and Anna at the villa, looking back towards the village of Kioni.
The following day we stayed in Kioni and walked around the bay to go for a swim off the beach. The weather is now really warming up (although the sea isn't!) and it was lovely to go in and cool off. Sam and Anna came past on their way back to their accommodation in the village so stopped and had a swim too.
Harry and I walked up to the top of the village - quite a steep climb - and a short way towards the next village of Frikes. At this point we realised that neither of us had any money on us for a beer at the other end so didn't go any further. It would have been a long, hot walk!
Harry with cold Mythos beer in hand!
From Kioni we sailed up to the island of Meganisi and to a favourite spot in Spartahori. Quite a climb up from the bay but worth it for the amazing views.
From Spartahori a short sail along the coast to Abelike bay and a walk up over to Little Vathi. This is a tiny chapel on the road back to Spartahori
Langoustines bought in Little Vathi and on the BBQ for dinner!
